Lisa Landry was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, where the majestic Pacific Ocean meets the rugged coastline. Raised on her family farm, Lisa was surrounded by the tranquil waters of the Pitt River, the mighty Fraser River, and the expansive Pacific Ocean—environments that nurtured her profound love for nature and the sea’s endless mysteries. Living amid the rhythms of rural life deepened her connection to the land and instilled in her a deep respect for the powerful currents that shape our lives.

Her father and uncle worked in the logging industry, moving timber down the Fraser River—a legacy that influenced her appreciation for hardworking communities and the narratives that emerge from them. The loss of her uncle to the river’s depths left an indelible mark, inspiring themes of love, loss, and the enigmatic beauty of the natural world that permeate her writing.

With a rich cultural heritage—her mother of Finnish descent and her father born in Romania—Lisa’s diverse background enriches the multifaceted characters and vibrant settings in her novels. Drawn by the allure of the Pacific Ocean, Lisa traveled extensively along the West Coast of the United States. These journeys fueled her imagination and brought depth to the landscapes of her stories.

After her travels along the West Coast, Lisa embarked on a six-month journey through Western Europe. This extended trip renewed and forever changed her, broadening her horizons and deepening her appreciation for diverse cultures and histories.

Upon returning from Europe, Lisa moved to Alberta, Canada, where she met her husband, an Irish-born, self-proclaimed cowboy with a spirited zest for life. Together, they purchased 160 acres of bushland that was also productive farmland, featuring pastures and a large barn suitable for horses and cattle. The property was a historic homestead, its house built in 1904 and abandoned for 16 years before they called it home.

Embracing the challenges of rural living, Lisa and her husband, with the help of newfound friends in the community, breathed new life into the old house. They replaced the roof, installed new windows, and after enduring their first winter of freezing temperatures with only an oil stove for heat—and relying on an outhouse—they upgraded to a gas furnace with proper ductwork. The restoration of the homestead was a labor of love, with her father and brother lending their hands, reinforcing the bonds of family and community.

On the farm, they purchased horses and trained them for driving, further immersing themselves in the rhythms of country life. This chapter enriched Lisa’s appreciation for dedication, perseverance, and the beauty of nurturing life—elements that often find their way into her writing.

After four years together, Lisa and her husband married and welcomed two sons into their lives. Though their marriage ended after a ten-year relationship, Lisa embraced the challenges of single parenthood. Balancing her responsibilities as a mother, she pursued higher education, she obtained a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Alberta. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Calgary. She dedicated many years to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. Her journey of resilience and determination profoundly influenced her storytelling, infusing her work with themes of perseverance and hope.

Lisa shared a special bond with her oldest brother, growing up together on the family farms in British Columbia. Their shared memories of rural life and adventures along the rivers were a constant source of joy and inspiration. When she became a single mother, raising her two young sons—then just 2 and 3 years old—while attending university and working part-time, her brother stood by her side. He lived with Lisa and her boys until they graduated from school, providing support and creating a nurturing family environment. His presence was a pillar of strength during those challenging years.

Later, when Lisa moved to her new farm location, her brother continued to live with her. They worked together on the farm, shared stories of their childhood, and cherished the familial connection that was a cornerstone of their lives. In 2022, Lisa faced a profound loss when her brother passed away from cancer related to Parkinson’s disease. His passing left a significant void, but his memory continues to inspire her, and the themes of family, love, and enduring bonds resonate deeply in her writing.

For over thirteen years, Lisa owned and operated a successful horse breeding farm, further solidifying her connection to animals and the land. Her experiences nurturing and training horses deepened her understanding of the bonds between humans and animals, a theme that resonates in her work.

Her parents also played significant roles in her life. Her father passed away in 1987 at the age of 65, and her mother in 2010 at the age of 90. The legacy of her parents’ love and the values they instilled continue to shape her perspectives and her writing.

In 2023, after undergoing thyroid cancer surgery, Lisa experienced a profound shift in perspective. This journey prompted her to reflect on life’s priorities and embrace her lifelong passion for writing and storytelling. Encouraged by this renewed focus, she made the heartfelt decision to downsize from farming to dedicate herself fully to crafting the enchanting worlds her readers have come to love. Her path to recovery has imbued her work with deeper themes of transformation, resilience, and hope.

Now, Lisa invites readers to escape into captivating narratives woven with vibrant characters, rich emotions, and a touch of magic. Her enduring love for the ocean and its mysteries continues to inspire her work, transporting readers to extraordinary destinations like the tranquil shores of Hawaii. When she’s not writing, Lisa enjoys exploring new coastlines, drawing inspiration from the secrets hidden within the natural world.
